Dear Reader: Please note that the #1 “Rainbows And Flying Tigers”and #2 “No Beginning and No End” itineraries were designed especially for people with a deep interest in Buddhism or who are themselves Buddhist.
“RAINBOWS AND FLYING TIGERS”
PARO – THIMPU – PUNAKHA – BUMTANG
8 Days / 8 – 12 People
Rainbows and flying tigers are iconic symbols in Vajrayana Buddhism, but of course they are more than just symbols. For this week we will visit many of the sacred places for Buddhists that are so alive in Bhutan, and open ourselves up to their deeper meanings.
This itinerary allows us enough time to get all the way out to central Bhutan and visit the sacred valley, Bumthang where we will spend atleast one night. It is here that Guru Rinpoche first brought Buddhism to Bhutan and this valley is also the birth place of Bhutan’s patron saint Pema Lingpa.
Guru Rinpoche meditated in many of the caves in Bumtang and hid sacred teachings in a lake in the valley called Mebar Tsho or “BurningLake”. This valley is very sacred area and the morning mists in the valley feel alive with blessing.
Some of the places of pilgrimage to visit in Paro, Thimpu and Bumtang include:
As time and interest and the moon and the stars allow, we will visit several of them!
Each day we will make Riwo Sangcho offerings and do Tara practice together. We may also receive some Chod teachings, and hold shinay practice sessions. Once we have a group formed, we like to tailor the itinerary to the group. Lama Pema and his family and associates are sincerely interested in your experience being all you were looking for, and even more.
This trip will include visits to such sites as the Memorial Chorten, Buddha Point, National Museum, National Library, Simtokha Dzong, Textile Museum, Folk Heritage Museum & Restaurant, National Institute of Zorig Chusum, and more, as time allows.
*Please note that we always do our best to meet your individual needs as well.
